It was bitterly cold this year. Wind nipped at his ears, his nose, made his cheeks bright red and blew snow into his hair. His nose ran, his legs were half frozen and his fingers numb despite the double layer of mittens.

Harry couldn’t get enough of it.

Laughing, he kicked up the fresh snow that was collecting on the ground, before tucking his chin back into his scarf and allowing it to obscure his grin. His glasses fogged with every exhalation, but he couldn’t bring himself to care.

“You’re still out here?”

Draco sounded aghast from where he stood in the doorway, light streaming around him from the hallway and giving him a warm glow. Harry grinned.

“Why not? It’s a nice evening.”

“It is not.”

“You know what would make it better, though? If you came out with me. We could make snowmen! Or have a snowball fight!”

Draco stared at him, his breath swirling in the air. “I am not going to roll around in the snow. No way are you going to make me, you insane cretin.”

The scarf did nothing to hide his grin this time. Harry closed the distance between them, snow crunching softly under his boots, and wrapped an arm around Draco's middle. Draco shivered slightly, and Harry felt the tingle of a warming charm hanging around his shoulders; Draco despised the cold.

“Fine, fine,” he said. “But you owe me.”
